TROUBLESHOOTING: CREATING A NEW HOME PAGE
If you’ve already imported the demo content, the page titled Home Page will already be configured. If you are missing the home page, here is how you can create a new one:
In the WordPress dashboard, go to Pages > Add New
On the right side of the page under Page Attributes, set the Page Template as Default Template.
MISSING BLOG PAGE
You can create a new "Blog" in Pages > Add New then follow the below instructions to set the new blog page as the post's page under Settings > Reading.
SET THE FRONT PAGE
In order to create the scrolling style home page like the demo site, navigate to Settings > Reading, then select A static page and make sure thehome page is set to display as the front page. Once this has been set, you can proceed to add/edit sections to build it out. Although the demo site displays only one of each section type, you can add as many sections as you like.
MANAGE SCROLLING HOME PAGE
The scrolling home page is a dynamic page created out of multiple sections that can be added, removed and rearranged as you need. This section outlines how to manage the home page.
HOW TO ADD SECTIONS TO THE HOME PAGE
To add a section to the home page, first create a new page. Once the page is added, you will need to set the Page Attributes on the right side of the screen. Set the attributes as follows:
Parent - Select the page you have set as the front page in the previous step.
Template - Select Home Page Section
Order - You can arrange the order the sections display by setting this number. Smaller numbers display first, starting at 0.
The available fields on the page will now change. From the Section Type drop-down, you can choose which section type you would like to add. These are the available section types:
This section will display portfolio (or other) subpages in a masonry style grid. Refer to the section on adding collection subpages for more details. You can also add a section sub-title in the available field. (Please note – only one collection section can be used on the homepage at a time.)
Add in a block of content of your choosing. Includes a field for an optional section sub-title - leave blank to not display it. Enter your content in the Text Block Section field; for additional toolbar options (like text styles, raw html, etc.), click on the right-most buttonToolbar Toggle.
PHOTO BACKGROUND LINK
Add in a call to action button on a photo background that links to any url of your choosing.
Link URL - The web address to link to.
Link Text - What the button will say.
Section Background Image - Upload an image to display as the background to the section. Images 1200px or wider are recommended.
Add in a contact form for your viewers to use to get in touch.
Contact Section Header - The section headline
Section Sub-title - The section sub-title
Contact Image - The image to display next to the form
Contact Form Shortcode - Paste in the contact form short code to use (e.g., [contact-form-7 id="481" title="Contact form 1”]). The short code can be retrieved from the Contact section of the WordPress admin menu. Note this theme is optimized to work with the Contact Form 7 plugin, and functionality cannot be guaranteed for other contact form plugins.
